Shinoda Toko

Born in 1913, Shinoda Toko`s art is a combination of traditional sumi ink paintings, calligraphy, and abstract impressionism. She studied calligraphy from her childhood and had her first solo exhibition in 1940. In the 1950s she traveled to the United States and was influenced by Jackson Pollock. Since then she has exhibited in many solo exhibitions in Japan, the USA and Europe.
